La obediencia en la cara de genocidio?

Somos Semillas de Autonomía, un grupo formado en respuesta a los secuestros sistemáticos y el genocidio ocurriendo en México, estos horrores orquestados por los Narco Estados de México-U$A. Este mensaje busca crear conciencia sobre la política interna de organizadores comunitarios en Chicago que participaron en la marcha del 04 de abril 2015 en solidaridad y con la participación directa de familiares de Ayotzinapa. Somos un grupo autónomo de personas que buscan desestabilizar los sistemas de dominación que nos quieren aplacar en la cara de atrocidades en Ayotzinapa y los mecanismos más amplios de genocidio y desapariciones en contra de la gente común de México: los grupos indígenas, estudiantes, campesinos, mujeres . No vamos a guardar silencio sobre la situación en México o el genocidio en las comunidades negras en los Estados Unido$ AmeriKKKanos. No vamos a ser obedientes hacia un sistema y una forma de pensar que asegura la muerte social de nuestras comunidades. Tampoco vamos a ser controlados por los “activistas profesionistas” en Chicago.

La marcha en Chicago en apoyo a la Caravana Ayotzinapa llegó a la Calle 18 y la Halsted, cuando varios compañerxs enmascarados sosteniendo una pancarta que decía: “USA PATROCINA EL GENOCIDIO DEL PUEBLO MEXICANO” intentó ocupar los dos carriles de tráfico. A pesar de impulso popular, esto no lo pareció a los autoproclamados “líderes” de la marcha- en gran medida los hombres del “Comité de Chicago para Ayotzinapa”. Algunos en el Comité Chicago para Ayotzinapa son amigas queridxs, de confianza que estaban conmocionados y consternados por lo ocurrido: los elementos más autoritarios de esta marcha decidieron detener la marcha y empezaron a gritar “no violencia, la no violencia” a los manifestantes. El autoproclamado liderazgo quería que la marcha se limitara a un carril de tráfico en la Calle 18, y marchar exclusivamente en el carril que va hacia el oeste. Una gran cantidad de manifestantes, sintiendo la mala atención de una condena tan pública, regresó en el carril con rumbo al oeste de tráfico- al carril “adecuado”. Muchos de los manifestantes, sin embargo, desafiamos estas nuevas “reglas de enfrentamiento” y pusimos en duda la capacidad de ser manejados por “algunos”. Algunos de estos auto nombrado líderes también le gritaron a los manifestantes por tener el rostro cubierto y exigieron a los manifestantes que revelan sus verdaderas identidades. Los individuos enmascarados ignoraron estas demandas y siguieron marchando sobre el tráfico en dirección este, y finalmente se unieron otros manifestantes que también vieron nada malo en usar la totalidad de la calle para la protesta.

Si su seguridad personal no le importa a usted – o si decide salir a las calles sin el rostro tapado- ¿por qué le molesta si alguien se presenta con su rostro cubierto? En Ayotzinapa, la gente siempre cubre sus rostros al manifestar. ¿Por qué? Seguridad. Seguridad. Seguridad. Entendemos la política del narco estado involucra México- pero también implica plenamente al Gobierno de los Estados Unido$. Los EE.UU. proporciona el dinero, las armas, el entrenamiento e incluso algunas de las tropas en la supuesta Guerra Contra las Drogas. Pero esto no es una guerra contra las drogas o contra la “delincuencia organizada” – es una guerra contra el pueblo de México. U$A es El Patrón de esta guerra, y el E$tado mexicano su cómplice. El verdadero “crimen organizado” es creado y mantenido por el E$tado y por los intereses corporativos que buscan expandir su control sobre las pueblos, las tierras y los recursos de las Américas. El Narcoestado no es sólo en México. El narcoestado también involucra nuestros barrios aquí en Chicago. Somos conscientes de nuestra seguridad. La represión contra los manifestantes sucede en U$A también. Entendemos que la gente quiere tomar fotos de ellxs mismos para subir en Facebook o Instagram. No estamos diciendo que no lo hagas, pero nosotros le alentamos a tener mas seguridad- quien quiere su propia imagen diseminada por todos los medios de comunicación? Estamos diciendo que personalmente no queremos que nuestro rostro sea la cara de este movimiento- estamos aquí para ayudar a amplificar el mensaje de resistencia y rebelión, no aquí para amplificar nuestra propia imagen en los medios sociales. No estamos aquí para mostrar nuestras caras y dejar que el Narco Gobierno sepa quiénes somos y quiénes son nuestrxs amigxs. Después de todo, quién fue el que secuestró a los estudiantes de Ayotzinapa si no el Narco Gobierno?

Tomando la calle entera de la 18 no es violencia. Aislar, avergonzar, y detener la marcha para condenar a los manifestantes “violentos” es un negocio peligroso. Te convierte en un policía. ¿Y qué estamos aquí protestando si no se declara la violencia que los policías son una parte de? ¿Por qué deberíamos dividirnos entre manifestantes buenos y malos- violentos y no violentos? ¿Por qué habríamos de hacerlo más fácil para que la policía pueda identificar y arrestar a algunos de nosotros?

¿Por qué los “lideres” no le gritaron a la policía cuando se presentaron? La policía intentó marchar entre nosotros – y muchos de los manifestantes les gritaron que se fueran de nuestros barrios, que dejen de matarnos. Algunas personas gritaban “Muerte al Estado”, apuntando a la policía. Los policías llegaron con armas de fuego, tazers, y esposas, pero los “lideres” no detuvieron la marcha para gritarles a ellos. Los “líderes” si detuvieron la marcha para avergonzar y aislar a manifestantes enmascarados que solamente querían utilizar todos los carriles de tráfico para la protesta.

Tenemos que hablar de la violencia. ¿Por qué algunas personas piensan que detener el tráfico con su rostro cubierto es violento? ¿Es porque ellos lo oyeron de Univisión o NBC? ¿No es la violencia cuando el gobierno secuestra a nuestros hijxs bajo la punta de una pistola? ¿De qué manera podemos mostrar nuestra rabia contra los secuestros, la tortura, las desapariciones, los asesinatos en México y aquí en nuestras comunidades de Chicago? ¿Cómo expresamos nuestra rabia sobre las fosas comunes de México, a los niños que son quemados en vida, a 30.000 desaparecidos desde 2012, a 300.000 muertos desde 2006, a 42 niñas y mujeres que son desaparecidas cada semana? ¿Sería ocupar un carril, y un solo carril, sin interrumpir el tráfico demasiado? ¿Debemos cooperar con la policía para “no causar mucha interrupción”?

Sabemos por qué los líderes autoproclamados del Chicago Comité Para Ayotzinapa -en su mayoría hombres- decidieron secuestrar la marcha por la Calle Blue Island en vez de continuar por la calle 18 como estaba previsto. Sabemos que los asesinos del Departamento de Policía de Chicago les dijeron que se comportaran y no interrumpieran el tráfico. Y los “lideres” obedecieron. La marcha se había vuelto demasiado peligrosa para “el negocio como siempre” en la Calle 18. Trataron de avergonzar a los manifestantes y nos aislaron en la Calle 18 y la Halsted. No funcionó. La gente, una vez que se dieron cuenta de que podían tomar toda la calle y no sólo ser obedientes a un lado, lo hicieron. Imaginemos qué soluciones creativas podríamos inventar- qué estilos de protesta y celebración podríamos imaginar si la gente como los Auto Nombrados Líderes- los que apagan el fuego que nace dentro – no existieran? ¿Quién necesita la Policía cuando tenemos a los activistas profesionales que buscan el control total de nuestra expresión? Y ahora tenemos que preguntarnos, ¿cuál será su respuesta este lunes en el Consulado de México en Chicago? ¿Cuál será su respuesta sea en marchas futuras? ¿Estarán los lideres del lado de la Policía o del Pueblo? Entendemos y diferenciamos entre el Pueblo y los políticos profesionistas de El Movimiento a los cuales les declaramos: USTEDES NO CONTROLARAN NUESTRO MENSAJE, NUESTRO ESTILO DE PROTESTA O NUESTRA IMAGINACION SOCIAL!

Pedimos al pueblo a levantarse contra los auto nombrados líderes del movimiento, a levantarse contra personas que han tomado demasiado espacio social, los que quieren controlar nuestros mensajes y nuestros cuerpos, que quieren vigilar nuestro estilo de protesta, a levantarse contra los vendidos que sólo quieren avanzar en sus propias carreras financieras o políticas. EXIGIMOS LA LIBERACIÓN TOTAL DE TODOS LOS GERENTES SOCIALES. EXIGIMOS QUE EL NARCO GOBIERNO MEXICO-U$A. DEVUELVA LOS ESTUDIANTES DE AYOTZINAPA INMEDIATAMENTE! QUEREMOS QUE EL ESTADO Y SUS AGENTES DE CONTROL DE NOS DEJEN EN PAZ Y DESAPARZECAN PARA SIEMPRE! Obedience In The Face Of Genocide?

We are Seeds of Autonomy, a group formed in response to the genocide and systematic kidnappings that are currently taking place, orchestrated by the Narco States of Mexico-U$A. This message hopes to raise awareness regarding the internal politics of the Chicago community organizers who participated in the April 4th, 2015 March & Rally in solidarity and with the direct participation of people from Ayotzinapa. We are an autonomous group of individuals seeking to destabilize systems of domination that wish to placate us in the face of atrocities in Ayotzinapa and the larger mechanisms of genocide and disappearances taking place across the region against everyday people: indigenous groups, students, campesinos, women. We will not be silent about the situation in Mexico or the Black genocide taking place in the United $tates of America. We will not be obedient towards a system and a way of thinking that ensures the social death of our communities. Nor will we be controlled by the professional activist scene in Chicago in our collective anger in the face of such state sponsored brutality.

The Chicago march in support of the Ayotzinapa Caravan arrived at 18th Street and Halsted, when several masked compañerxs holding a banner that read “USA SPONSORS THE GENOCIDE OF MEXICAN PEOPLE” attempted to occupy both lanes of traffic. Despite popular momentum, this did not seem like a good idea to the self-appointed “leaders” of the march – which consisted largely of men from “Chicago’s Comité for Ayotzinapa”. Some in the Chicago Comité for Ayotzinapa are dear, trusted, and long time friends who were shocked and appalled by what happened: the most authoritarian elements of this march decided to stop the march entirely and shout “non-violence, non-violence” at the protesters. The self-appointed leadership wanted the March to limit itself to one lane of traffic on 18th Street, and exclusively march on the lane going westbound. A lot of protesters, feeling the spotlight of such a public condemnation, got back on the westbound lane of traffic. Many protesters however, challenged these new “rules of engagement” and questioned the ability to lead of “some”. Some of these self appointed leaders also chose to yell at the protesters for having their faces covered and demanded the protesters reveal their true identities. The masked individuals ignored these demands and kept marching onto eastbound traffic, and were eventually joined by other protesters who also saw nothing wrong with using the entirety of the street for the protest.

If your personal security doesn’t matter to you — or if you choose to take to the streets unmasked- why should it bother you that someone shows up with their face covered? In Ayotzinapa, PEOPLE ALWAYS MASK UP, COVERING THEIR FACES. Why? Security. Security. Security. We understand the politics of the Narcostate involve Mexico- but they also fully implicate the United States Government, too. The US provides the money, the weapons, the training and even some of the troops in the supposed War Against Drugs. But this is not a war on drugs and on so-called “organized crime” – it is a war on the people of Mexico. The US is the patron of this war, and the Mexican state is its accomplice. The true “organized crime” is created and maintained by the $tate and by corporate interests who seek to expand their control over the people, lands and resources of the Americas. The Narcostate is not just in Mexico. The Narcostate also involves our neighborhoods here in Chicago. We are mindful for our safety. Repression against protesters happens in the United $tates, too.  We understand people want to take pictures of themselves to upload on Facebook or Instagram. We are not telling you not to, but we are encouraging you to be more secure about having your own image plastered all over the news. We are saying that we personally don’t want our face front and center- we are here to help amplify the message of resistance and rebellion, not here to amplify our own social media image. We are not here to show our faces and let the Narco Government know who we are and who our friends are. After all, who was it that kidnapped the students of Ayotzinapa if it was not the government and the narcos?

Taking up the entire street of 18th is not violence. Isolating, shaming, and stopping the march to single-out the “violent” protesters from the “good” protesters is dangerous business. It turns you into a cop. And what are we here protesting if it is not state violence that cops are a part of? Why would we divide ourselves amongst good and bad protesters- violent and non-violent? Why would we make it easier for the police to identify and arrest some of us?

Why did the self appointed leaders not yell at the police when they showed up? The Police tried marching among us — and many protesters yelled at them to get out of our hoods, to stop killing us. Some people yelled “Death to the State” and pointed at the police. The cops showed up with guns, tazers, and handcuffs but the self appointed leaders did not stop the march to disinvite them. The self appointed leaders did stop the march to shame and isolate masked protesters who wanted to use all lanes of traffic for the protest.

We have to talk about violence. Why do some people think that stopping traffic with your face covered is violent? Is it because they heard it from Univision or NBC? Is not violence having your children taken from you at gunpoint by the government? In what ways can we show our anger at the kidnappings, the torture, the disappearances, the murders — in Mexico and here in our own communities? How do we express our rage at the mass graves of Mexico, to children being burnt alive, to 30,000 missing since 2012, to 300,000 dead since 2006, to 42 girls and women being disappeared every week?  Would it be to take up one lane, and one lane only, without interrupting traffic too much? Should we cooperate with the police to “not cause too much of a disruption” ?

We know why the self-appointed leaders of the Chicago Comité For Ayotzinapa -mostly men- decided to hijack the march down Blue Island instead of continuing down 18th Street as planned. We know the murderous Chicago Police Department told them to behave and not disrupt traffic. And they obeyed. The march had become too dangerous to business as usual on 18th Street. They tried to shame the protesters and isolate us on 18th Street and Halsted. It did not work. The people, once they realized they could take the entire street and not just be obedient on one side, did. Imagine what creative solutions we could come up with- what styles of protest and celebration we could imagine if people like the Self Appointed Leaders- the professional fire extinguishers — did not exist? Who needs the Police when we have them to do crowd control? And now we have to ask, what will their response be on Monday at the Mexican Consulate? What will their response be in future marches we are a part of? Will they side with the Police or the People? We understand and differentiate between the People and the Career Politicians of El Movimiento to whom we say: YOU WILL NOT CONTROL OUR MESSAGE, OUR STYLE OF PROTEST, OR OUR SOCIAL IMAGINATIONS!

We ask the People to rise up against the self appointed leaders of the movement, to rise up against people who have taken up too much social space, who want to control our messages and our bodies, who want to police our style of protest, to rise up against the sell-outs who only want to further their own financial or political careers. WE DEMAND TOTAL LIBERATION FROM ALL SOCIAL MANGERS. WE DEMAND THE MEXICAN-U.S. GOVERNMENT RETURN THE STUDENTS OF AYOTZINAPA IMMEDIATELY! WE WANT THE STATE AND ITS AGENTS OF CONTROL TO LEAVE US ALONE AND DISAPPEAR FOREVER. WE ARE TIRED OF BEING TOLD TO SHUT UP, WE ARE TIRED OF BEING TOLD HOW TO PROTEST, WE ARE TIRED OF BEING OBEDIENT WHILE THEY DEPORT, KIDNAP, KILL, AND DISAPPEAR OUR COMMUNITIES. #YaMeCanse
